I provide a safe, confidential space for students to ask questions about and find support related to substance use, addiction, and recovery. Feel free to stop by or to schedule a time via email. I can be a sounding board if you have a concern or a question about your own substance use or that of someone you care about. I can offer support if you want to change your relationship with a particular substance or if you want to develop healthier habits. I provide supportive counseling services and referral to community based treatment for LHS students and families. All requests are treated confidentially.
Consequences, such as suspension or loss of privileges, are often not enough to help teens change their relationship with addictive substances. It is important to understand the why behind the use, to honestly examine the impact of one's use, and to have support for making changes and developing coping skills. I facilitate the American Lung Association's InDepth or Not On Tobacco programs for students needing or wanting to address nicotine use. I facilitate Stanford REACH Lab's Healthy Futures program for students needing or wanting to address cannabis use. These programs are required for any student found in possession or in use of these substances at school, but are available to any student who asks. All requests and referrals are treated confidentially. Asking for help does NOT trigger a chemical health violation for student athletes.
Feel free to contact me by phone or email to set up an appointment.
