Support Groups and Self-Help


Alcoholics Anonymous: Alcoholics Anonymous is an international fellowship of men and women who support each  other in achieving and maintaining sobriety. There are several meetings available locally  everyday.

Alanon and Alateen:  Al-Anon/Alateen is for families and friends of those suffering from addiction to share their  experience, strength and hope in order to solve common problems.  Its program of recovery is   based on the 12 steps adapted from AA.  Several meetings are offered weekly in our area.

Learn to Cope:  Learn To Cope is a peer-led support group for families dealing with addiction and recovery.   It meets every Thursday evening at Providence Hospital.

Parent Support Group of Western Mass:  This group offers peer support and information for parents of teens and   adult children using drugs or alcohol.  It meets every Wednesday evening at Mira Vista in Holyoke.  Contact (413) 626-9889 or visit Parent Support Group of Western Mass on Facebook for more information.

Outpatient Counseling

Local A-CRA (Adolescent Community Reinforcement Approach) Programs: brief, intensive evidence based  outpatient treatment for 12-24 year olds to support substance use recovery.

Joshua Center, Enfield, CT:  Joshua Center Provides assessment, individual and group outpatient services.

New Directions, Enfield, CT:  Provides adolescent individual and group outpatient services.

Boston Children's Hospital ASAP (Adolescent Substance Use and Addiction Program):  in person or tele-health outpatient program that will evaluate and support teens and their families with a full range of substance use problems and disorders.

Massachusetts General Hospital ARMS (Addiction and Recovery Medicine: outpatient program supporting teens and young adults and their caregivers as they deal with substance use and related problems, available via tele-health.
