Meet Your Director

Katie Vail graduated from Augustana College in Rock Island, IL in 2007 with a B.A. in Instrumental Music Education. She studied cello with Dr. Janina Ehrlich and piano with Dr. Mary Neil. Katie participated in the Augustana Symphony and chamber ensembles. She also has performed with the Iowa City Community String Orchestra under the direction of Carey Bostian.

Katie accepted an orchestra position at Linn-Mar in 2007 and currently teaches 7^th and 8^th grade ensembles as well as lessons. She has been a member of ASTA (American String Teachers Association) and ISTA (Iowa String Teachers Association) since 2002. Katie maintained a private cello studio between 1999 and 2013. Katie lives in Cedar Rapids with her husband, Eben, and son, Ian. During her free time, Katie enjoys reading, cooking, and spending time with her family.
