In orchestra, students will be assessed on many different standards throughout the year. We have four basic categories for assessments: rehearsals, lessons, performances and playing assessments. The standards that fit each category are listed below. To find out more specifics on how students will be assessed on each standard, the proficiency scales for each standard are available to download at the bottom of the page.
The standard for each scale ranges between 1 and 4 points. The student-friendly language for that scale is:
4 - I got it. I can teach it to someone else or apply it in new ways.
3 - I get it. I can do this by myself.
2 - I know the basics but need a little practice or help with the rest.
1 - I'm trying but need help to understand the basics.
