Adventureland Festival of Bands

The Excelsior 7th and 8th grade bands and orchestras will participate in the annual “Adventureland Festival of Bands” on Saturday, May 9.  The festival will feature 28 middle school ensembles from across the state.  Bands perform for a distinguished panel of judges who give written and recorded feedback and award a division rating to each ensemble.  Excelsior has a tradition of excellent performances and ratings at Adventureland on which we hope to build!

This is a very important performance for these groups, and we hope that each band member will participate in this event.  Students will meet in the Excelsior Band Room at 6:50 am.  Each student will need to have their instrument, music, a change of casual clothes, and debit/credit card for the day with them when they arrive.  Students should arrive wearing their concert dress clothes, as we perform shortly after we get to Adventureland.  Food and drinks other than water are not allowed on the bus, so students should eat a big breakfast!

The cost of the student admission ticket is $32.99, nearly half off the regular admission price.  We encourage you to complete payment through the Payments and Purchases link in PowerSchool.  Or you may send a check made out to Linn-Mar School District (no cash if possible, no change available) on or before Friday, April 10.  In PowerSchool, look for “Adventureland Excelsior Band.” 

Regardless of payment method, please fill out this Google Form on or before April 10.  If you are willing to donate the cost of an additional ticket, you can purchase multiple tickets in PowerSchool.  Adventureland is now cashless, so students will need a debit/credit card.  They can also redeem cash at kiosks for cards if needed.  Students will need enough funds with them for lunch, dinner, and snacks.  We encourage you to practice using the debit card with you at a store before Adventureland if they have not done so before.

Family and friends are welcome to spend the day at Adventureland and to watch our performances!  If you would like to purchase extra tickets, they may be purchased at the main gate the day of our Adventureland trip for $37.99 plus tax.  Unless parents make alternate arrangements, all students will ride the bus in the morning, but may ride home with parents/guardians afterward.  If your child will not be returning to Excelsior on the bus, please indicate it on the Google Form. 

If parents are willing to chaperone, please indicate so on the Google Form.  Parent chaperones who ride the bus do not need to pay for their ticket.  If you are willing to cover the cost of one chaperone ticket, you can purchase multiple tickets in PowerSchool.

11:20 am                 Load instruments and belongings on buses, change into casual clothes

Lunch, dinner, and rides on your own

5:00 pm                   Buses leave Adventureland

7:00 pm                   Arrive at Excelsior – Please be there at that time to pick up your child!
