"Experiences with technology that promote continued learning, enhance communication, and foster innovation in practice" (from the LCS Vision statement, adopted May 18, 2010)
The challenge of schools is the empowerment of all children to function effectively in their future, a future marked increasingly with change, information growth, and evolving technologies. Lincoln Community School will create authentic learning engagements through the provision and use of ICT. The focus of ICT will not be on the use of technology for it’s own sake but to enhance learning throughout the curriculum. (adapted from The Role of ICT in the PYP)
Information and Communication Technology (ICT) supports student-centered, inquiry-based, and collaborative teaching and learning. Teachers must reconsider roles and techniques as technology holds the capacity to transform classroom teaching and learning. As anytime/anywhere access is further realized the impact on the learning and the traditional classroom will evolve. In addition, it is the schools responsibility to ensure students acquire skills necessary for success in future professional and personal endeavors.
We believe ICT transforms learning, creates innovation, and opens multiple pathways to contribute meaningfully to society.
We believe technology is seamlessly integrated into the daily lives of our students, educators, and staff members. This can be accomplished by placing technology tools in the hands of all learners.
We believe students, teachers and staff should have access to technology anytime and anywhere.
We believe ICT should facilitate educational opportunities beyond the walls of the classroom.
We believe that all teachers are responsible for the appropriate integration of technology across the curriculum.
We believe that students must see adults consistently modeling the effective and ethical use of ICT.
We believe that students learn best when they are inquiring, and solving problems innovatively.
It is through the seamless and natural application of technology in the learning environment that our belief statements and goals will be realized.
