Technology Professional Development
This document is based on the following premises:
Professional learning opportunities are identified, planned and provided
Personal learning is the responsibility of each individual. Commitment to learning through personal inquiry and personal goal setting is fundamental
Training is essential to the success of every technology initiative. It’s irresponsible to assume that simply providing all teachers with hardware is enough. Whether it’s SmartBoards, projectors, laptops, scanners or document cameras – or new software initiatives – training is crucial. Since with technology, large-group trainings aren’t as effective as one-on-one or targeted small group sessions, we are redefining the roles of the technology integrationist and technology facilitators to ensure that they are available to provide support.
In addition, individual teachers are responsible for their own learning. To this end, promoting the development of Personal Learning Networks for individuals is critical. Teachers learn through inquiry and through personal exploration.
