Ohio's New Learning Standards - In June 2010, the Ohio's State Board of Education adopted the Common Core State Standards in English language arts and mathematics, the results of a multi-state effort. The board also adopted more rigorous versions of Ohio's academic content standards in science and social studies. All classrooms will be using these standards in the 2013-2014 school year.

ODE's information regarding SLOs and SGMs - A Student Learning Objective (SLO) is a measurable, long-term academic growth target that a teacher sets at the beginning of the year for all students or for subgroups of students. SLOs demonstrate a teacher’s impact on student learning within a given interval of instruction based upon baseline data gathered at the beginning of the course.

3rd Grade Guarantee - Updates and Guidance from ODE - In summer 2012, legislation strengthened the Third Grade Reading Guarantee to give greater emphasis to reading instruction and intervention in the early grades. Through this initiative, school districts and community schools will diagnose reading deficiencies in students at grades kindergarten through three, create individualized reading improvement and monitoring plans and provide intensive reading interventions.
