Parents,
It was so wonderful to meet with you and your student last week. I enjoy getting to know my parents better and sharing how your child is doing in school.
This month is full of activities as we celebrate the season. If you have any questions, please let me know.
Up-Coming Activities:
Christmas Shopping Store at school - Tuesday, December 9th
Students will have the opportunity to buy presents for their family at our store. All gifts will be $2 and will be wrapped up and sent home with your child. A flier went home last week along with envelopes and labels from the PTLC so you students can make their shopping list. I can collect money envelopes as soon as you send them in just make sure to let your child know they have it to give me. This year we will have our amazing 5th graders be "shopping buddies" with our Kindergarteners, showing them how to shop away for gifts for their families. Always a precious time for the students to look for that perfect gift. Your child does not need to participate in this but it is always fun to buy a few gifts for others.
Snack Sale: Each week a class hosts the snack sale at recess on Thursday. It is our turn to host the snack sale this week. Proceeds from the sale go directly back to our classroom. We will be spending the money on our classroom kitchen. I have a kids’ kitchen in our room and this last week we made cookies. It is such a fun experience for my students to get a chance to cook. I have a small oven we use but would love to get a hot plate so I will use the proceeds from the sale to purchase a hot plate. This will open up so many new things we can cook. If you can donate 2 dozen wrapped items for the sale that would be appreciated. Bring them in anytime this week. Because the snack sale is on Thursday and that is our Nutcracker day I will let my students get a snack item at recess and they will not need a quarter. We are not bringing backpacks to school on Nutcracker day.
The Nutcracker Experience - Thursday, December 11th
We will be learning about The Nutcracker this week and will end with a special Nutcracker Experience on Thursday the 11th. The PA Kindergarten will be joining us for the morning and students will rotate to 7 different stations as they learn about The Nutcracker, games, music, sensory experience and dance are all part of the fun for the day. Students will dress up in their fancy clothes, girls in fancy dress and boys in slacks, jackets, vests, ties etc. Just like we were going to the theater. A day full of enjoying Nutcracker fun!!! If you want to join us you are welcome to do so. We will begin at 8:00 in the MPR and end at the end of the day. I will need some parents to rotate around with the class.
Students do not need backpacks on this day. It is my bake sale day and I will let the students choose a bakesale item for snack at recess. They won’t need a quarter since it is our bake sale.
Gingerbread Centers and Celebration - Monday, December 15th
The Gingerbread Man said he is coming back to join us at Christmas time and on Monday we will have special Gingerbread Centers. We are hoping that we will have a visit from our long lost Gingerbread Man we met at the beginning of the year. Our day will end with a Cookies and Hot Chocolate party and opening our stockings that are hanging in the room. I will need a few parents to help for the day. If you are free for the morning and would like to help let me know.
Class Book Exchange - Friday, December 19th -
On the last day of school before our Christmas Break it has been an LFCS tradition to have a class book exchange. Each student brings a new wrapped book marked Boy, Girl or Either and the students exchange books. They will take their book home with them after they open it. Books should be about $5 in cost. You can send in wrapped books anytime this month. If you are able to send an additional book for someone who might not be able to bring one that would be appreciated.

Character Trait for November/December
Mrs. Amorteguy
Character Corner for November/December:
Speak with good purpose
This is a great time of year to speak kindness to others. Encourage your child to call a relative and wish them a Merry Christmas or say hi to a neighbor. Often at this time of year with all the activity we forget there are people around us that just need a smile or a sweet Hello. All ways we help our students learn to “Speak with good purpose”.
