Mrs. Amorteguy’s
Weekly Newsletter
5/13/24
Parents,
Our chicks have not hatched out of their shells yet but late Sunday Night Mr. Amorteguy and I stopped by and checked and I am happy to report there is a crack in one shell so far. We are hoping to have chicks in the morning. Such a fun time in Kindergarten.
It was so fun to see so many of you last Friday at our Mother's Day Tea. Thank you for coming, I know your child was so excited to have you visit.
This week is Charter School Week. We will be celebrating all week and talking about what makes Literacy First such an amazing school. Take some time at home to talk with your child about why you chose this school for them and why it is important to have school choice. I love what I do and being part of the Charter School movement has really been a wonderful experience as a teacher.
Up-Coming Activities:
Our turn to host the Bake/Snack Sale:
It is our turn to host the bake/snack sale this week at school A few times a year a class is assigned to host the sale on Thursday at recess. The proceeds from the bake sale go directly back to the classroom. We will be using the money for our end of the year activities. If you can donate 1-2 dozen items for our sale it would be appreciated. I put a flier in your child's folder this week to give you some ideas of what to send in. We are trying hard to have good snacks for our students and stay away from some of the "junk" food. Some great alternitives are on the flier. Please send in items any time this week before Thursday.
Zoo Field Trip: Thursday, May 23rd we will be going to the San Diego Zoo. Students will need to be at school by 8:30 and picked up at 2:00. You will find a permission slip in your child's folder this week. Please return that as soon as possible. You can indicate on the permission slip if you would like to join us as a chaperone. Chaperone tickets are $20 unless you have a pass. $20 will hold your spot for a Chaperone ticket. We will be riding the bus to the zoo. Parents who attend as a chaperone must ride the bus with us and only parents are allowed to attend. Students will need to wear their red logo shirt and bring a disposable sack lunch.
