The Little Falls Board of Education approved Project REAL on March 22, 2011. At its core, this project is about two things: training our staff to teach to the needs of all students, and providing each student with the skills to be productive in the future.
When students leave our schools, it is our goal that they have the skills to be life-long learners. Armed with 21st Century skills, our students will adapt and flourish in a world that we adults can only imagine. Project REAL is designed to train our teachers to be able to assist our students to be ready for their lives after Little Falls Community Schools.
As of the 2014-2015 school year, all students in grades preK-12 have an Ipad available for their use; students in preK-4 leave their devices in the classroom each night, whereas those in 5-12 are encouraged to bring them home.
The 2014-2015 addition of four Instructional/Technology coaches, one housed in each of the district buildings, has added an additional layer of support and innovation for both students and teachers alike.
DIGITAL ME curriculum -- A team of teachers, counselors, technology and media staff from grades 6-12 worked in the summer of 2012 to create a digital curriculum that is taught to students beginning in the 2012-2013 school year. The program is designed to promote safe and effective use of online and digital tools. Additionally, the importance of digital citizenship is embedded in the instruction of classroom teachers as they work with their students on an ongoing basis.
