D.I.C.E. (Diplomacy and International Communication in English)
The new D.I.C.E. five points elective prepares students to participate in the new 21st century global business marketplace. The course focuses on learning about cultural diversity, media literacy, and knowledge of global issues. It is designed to allow students to develop the skills specifically required in today’s global workforce, namely: making presentations, teamwork, critical and innovative thinking skills, and consensus-building.
This new program offers the primary (בסיס) subject, Communication Skills, which is studied over three years from Grades 10-12. Students will take an external Bagrut exam (סמל שאלון 091381) at the end of Grade 12 (three points) in the Summer of 2018.
The extension (הרחבה) subject, Conflict Management and Resolution, is studied in Grades 11 and 12. Students will be assessed internally (סמל שאלון 091283) at the end of Grade 12 (two points).
Thus, students must take 9 hours of Communication Skills and 6 hours of Conflict Management and Resolution over three years.
In the primary course, Communication Skills (סמל שאלון 091381), students will develop their interpersonal, intercultural and cognitive abilities through meaningful learning in which they:
analyze and evaluate media texts and construct media texts adapted to audience and purpose;
structure, present and respond to arguments about multifaceted and controversial topics, accommodating the norms and conventions of public discourse in oral and written modes;
maintain international forums for cross-cultural communication using digital media and technologies;
acquire effective collaborative strategies to negotiate and make decisions through role play and simulation;
apply thinking skills and creativity exercises to explore solutions to current issues of global concern.
