There are some instance in which a part-time employee would be TRS eligible and thereby automatically enrolled as a TRS member. More information regarding eligibility and what is considered creditable compensation that is subject to TRS can be found directly on the TRS website at trs.texas.gov.
All eligible employees can expect to see the deductions for these contributions to your TRS retirement account on your pay stub as "TRS Regular" and "TRS Care".
TRS provides members with an annual statement of their account showing all deposits and the total account balance for the year ending August 31st, as well as an estimate of their retirement benefits. If you do not receive this statement, please contact TRS directly by calling 1-800-223-8778.
Purchasing Service Credit
In addition to earning membership service credit for employment with a TRS-covered employer, eligible TRS members may purchase service credit as provided by law. Please refer to the TRS Service Credit brochure, located in the Purchase Service Credit section of the TRS website, for descriptions of the types of service that may be purchased and the eligibility requirements.
Beneficiaries
