AP European History
Course Description:
Advanced Placement European History is a full year course that explores the growth of national identity and Europe as a world power, as well as the impact those changes had on European and non-European societies. Students will learn factual information but also the critical thinking and problem solving skills necessary to analyze historical events. Seven themes will be used as a frame of reference for a chronological study of World History. This course will be both rigorous and rewarding. Emphasis will be placed on preparing students for the AP World History Exam, which will be administered in May. This course will require students to read and analyze primary and secondary sources, use various resources to develop understanding of historical events, and construct written arguments of various length and form backed by relevant historical evidence. The ultimate benefits of this class will be an informed view of how Europe has impacted the world, the stimulation of intellectual growth, and the acquisition of important historical critical thinking skills.

Multiple Choice Retakes:
One quiz per six weeks may be retaken for up to an 80 one week after grades are handed back & prior to the period exam.

In order to retake multiple choice assessments, students must have all corresponding daily work completed and attend tutorials.
Essay Corrections:
All essays can be continuously corrected in tutorials for up to a 100. In order to write essays, students must have all corresponding daily work completed and attend tutorials.
All final drafts of essays will be due one week after the grade is handed back.
Daily Grades:
Daily grades (Menu Work and Time Period Reviews) can be checked multiple times for full credit prior to the final due date (listed on the menu). Students can complete a max of 25 pts of extra credit, if all review criteria is attempted. Daily work can be turned in for ONE WEEK after the due date during tutorials, however, work turned in after the due date will not be eligible for extra credit.
Supplementary Text: "AP European History Correlated to the 2019 CED " by AMSCO, it is not required to buy it, but it will be tremendously helpful to have your own copy. AMSCO provides a comprehensive account of European History and provides sample multiple choice questions and essay prompts.
