All Choir students are highly encouraged to sign up for private voice instruction. Raider Choir voice instructors are highly qualified with years of experience in the field of music education, performance, etc.

Students in the private lesson program receive additional instruction that will help prepare them for auditions/performances including the All-State Choir, College Scholarships, RHS Solo Contest, RHS Studio Broadway Recital, and various Solo/Small Group opportunities throughout the school year.

Voice lessons will typically occur during the student’s weekly Choir Class. You may opt to take lessons during advocate/after school (if available with Instructor). Lesson fees are set by LISD and are based on the teacher’s level of education and experience.

Private voice Instructors will provide studio policies and payment information once you have completed the online registration form. Longer lesson times may be accommodated at the discretion of the instructor.

Julie Rhodes - Private Voice Instructor

Julie Rhodes has been a Choral Music Educator for over 20 years, most recently as a Choir Director at Rouse High School where she directed the award winning IntoneNation Show Choir and had consistent UIL Sweepstakes Choirs. She received her bachelor’s degree in Music Education from Lubbock Christian University, graduating Summa Cum Laude with honors. She also did some graduate work at Texas Tech University in choral conducting.

Julie has been the Music Director for the Rouse HS Musical for the last 10 years, winning 3 Heller Awards for Best Musical Direction for Bring It On, Les Miserables School Edition and The Hunchback of Notre Dame. She has coached several Texas All State Choir students, Heller Award Nominees, and two Jimmy Award Nominees.

Julie is currently a Vocal Coach and Musical Director with her own studio, Rhodes Vocal Arts, and is also a vocal instructor for the Pre-Professional Company at ZACH Theatre’s North Educational Campus and at The Georgetown Palace. Julie has music directed many shows including: In the Heights, Bring It On, Les Miserables School Edition, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Anastasia, Cinderella Broadway Version, and Newsies. She has also been seen in Georgetown as the Music Director for Southwestern University’s productions of The Spitfire Grill, Nunsense, and BKLYN, and for The Georgetown Palace Theatre’s production of Beautiful: The Carol King Musical and 42nd Street.

She recently celebrated 40 years of marriage with her husband Kevin and she has two children, Renee and Jason, and of course the most important family member…her cat, Ginny. (After Ginny Weasley). In her spare time she loves being with friends and family, working puzzles and playing video games!

She loves teaching music and is passionate about helping students reach their best musical potential!

Monica Muscato - Private Voice Instructor

Mrs. Muscato brings over 25 years of experience in teaching music to her voice studio. She has taught in both private and public schools in Texas, teaching choir, music theory, contemporary music styles, musical theater, and piano.

After graduating with a Masters of Music degree from UT Austin, she performed around Austin as a jazz vocalist and pop singer. Monica has directed numerous musical theater productions in middle schools, high schools, and community groups. With a strong foundation in vocal pedagogy, she combines classical training with contemporary versatility to meet the unique needs of every student.

In addition to 25 years of directing choral music in middle school and high schools, Monica has extensive experience as a private voice instructor, working with students of all ages and skill levels. With a keen understanding of the beginning singer, she brings compassion and positivity to each lesson to enable each individual student to grow to their full potential She has coached numerous students to the level of State UIL competition, and dozens to becoming an All State singer.

Monica is passionate about helping students develop healthy vocal technique, musical confidence, expressive performance skills, and a solid understanding of music theory. She has performed and coached a wide range of musical genres, including classical, contemporary, pop, musical theatre, jazz, rock, R&B, and country music.

She brings her expertise and passion for vocal music education to her students to inspire them to find their own true style and unique voice.
