Raider Choir - Voice Lessons

All choir students are highly encouraged to sign up for private voice instruction. It is completely optional! The Raider Choir voice instructors are highly qualified instructors with years of experience in the field of music education, performance, etc.

Voice lessons offer your singer a unique experience that they cannot receive in an ensemble classroom setting. During this time your child will have one-on-one instruction in vocal technique. Students in the LISD private lesson program have additional instruction that will help prepare them for auditions/performances including the All-State Choir, college scholarships, RHS Solo Contest, RHS Studio Broadway Recital, and various solo and small group opportunities throughout the school year.

Voice lessons will typically occur during the student’s weekly choir class. You may opt to take lessons during advocate/after school (if available with Instructor) if you do not wish to be pulled from class for your lesson. Lesson fees are set by LISD and are based on the teacher’s level of education and experience. The private lesson instructor will provide studio policies and payment information once you have completed the online registration form. Longer lesson times may be accommodated at the discretion of the private lesson instructor.

Rouse Choir Private Voice Lessons Instructor : Jessica Waterhouse

With a bachelor's degree in music education and a master's degree in vocal performance and pedagogy, Jessica Waterhouse has been a performer and vocal educator in the central Texas area since 2002. She specializes in vocal pedagogy, vocal health and proper choral and belt techniques.

She currently teaches in Leander ISD, Pflugerville ISD, and Round Rock ISD as a private vocal coach and is the Music Director for the Hendrickson High School Theater department. Prior to taking the music director position, she taught at the Georgetown Palace Theatre, as well as the Zach Scott Theatre in both the north and south locations.

Under her guidance, she has had several students make the TMEA All State Choirs, National ACDA choirs, outstanding performers at the Texas State Solo & Ensemble competition, and even has a student on Broadway!

As for Waterhouse, she has performed throughout the US, earning Outstanding Vocalist at the Notre Dame Jazz Festival 3 years in a row, and has had the opportunity to perform in Mexico City, Cancun, and the Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland.

When not performing or teaching, Waterhouse enjoys running her catering company, traveling, soccer, formula one, and snuggling with her pup, Gypsy.
