Grading Policy:

Students will be assessed on essential learning outcomes for the grading period using a rubric scale that ranges from emerging to advanced (1-4). Our grade book will reflect our 1-4 system as a 70(Emerging), 80(Developing), 90(Proficient), and 100(Advanced) reported in the Home Access Center. 70% of a student’s grade for that course will be Knowledge & Thinking (learning standards) with 30% being a combination of agency and collaboration.

Absences

As per district policy, you will have one day to make up work for each day you miss. Some circumstances will need a different approach - discuss this with the teacher.

Projects

We will have projects throughout the year and every student must act appropriately. If you do not follow proper safety procedures and use tools correctly then you will be removed from the project and a disciplinary action will be taken. Safety is of the highest importance and we will treat it so.

Late work

Late work will be accepted up to one week after the assignment is due.  If more time is needed, refer to the teacher.

Retakes

At DMS we want to encourage growth mindsets in our students therefore we will allow for multiple opportunities for demonstrating proficiency. When a students shows growth on a skill, we will replace the grade in the gradebook with one that reflects their current level.

Behavior

Students in Gateway are expected to show the best behavior and represent the campus well. Violations of the student code of conduct will result in a DAF, referral or even removal from the program. This will be gauged by the severity or the frequency of the violation.
