This unit covers the Presidency & the Federal Bureaucracy.

This unit will include Chapters 12 & 14 in our Government in America textbook. (We will read them in that order.)

  2. Finish Congress Simulation!!

  3. Review for test / questions & clarifications.

  4. Start makeing correcting Judiciary Test & Congress Test (continue next class as needed)

  5. Overview of Primary Elections Assignment (see google classroom)

Homework:

• 1. Complete Primary Elections Assignment (see google classroom)

  2. & Finish Reading/taking good handwritten notes on Chapter 12 (The Presidency) (if you haven't already).

DAY 1: The Presidency (Tuesday, October 23, 2018 - Wednesday, October 24, 2018)

Learning Targets:

• • Explore the history powers of the presidency including the president's formal and informal powers... and their growth over time.

• Understand the Constitutional & statutory provisions that impact managing presidential succession & disability.

In Class:

• 1. Finish correcting/making notes on missing questions from previous tests (as needed by class period)

  2. Questions, Comments, Share Out re: Primary Election Assignment

Homework:

• Read & highlight (in your copy of the Constitution) the powers of the president & any other items you deem interesting or important from Article II of the US Constitution + Amendments 12, 22 & 25

  • Seriously, if you haven't already... Read/take good handwritten notes on Chapter 13 (the Presidency)

DAY 3: The Bureaucracy (Monday 10/29/2018 - Tuesday, 10/30/2018) - TENTATIVE

Learning Targets:

• Identify & evaluate the relative importance of the president's formal & informal powers

• Compare the various parts of the bureaucracy including the departments, regulatory agencies, independent agencies, and governmental corporations.

• Note characteristics of the bureaucracy in including how it functions, trends in size & make-up, effectiveness, etc.
