September 2017.  The research lab moves back downstairs into the newly renovated space, just in time for classes to start. 

July 2017. The first-annual group hike followed the Timberline trail northwest from the Timberline Lodge at Mt Hood (left).  The high elevation provided a great demonstration of the ideal gas law (right). 

June 2017.  Zach and Selina help with the final move out (top), the lab is empty (middle), and demolition begins (bottom).  This summer the research lab will be renovated to provide new lab benches and sinks.

March 2011 Nanomaterials / 3D Design Collaboration. Students in Nanomaterials Chemistry (Chem 415) paired with students in Garrick Imatani’s 3D Design (Art 103) course to image objects with the college’s new Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), build clay models, and form plaster reliefs.  An article about the project can be found here.

December 2009 Environmental Studies poster session. Students from Chem 100 (Environmental Chemistry) visited sites off campus to learn more about the chemistry of an environmental issue relevant to the Portland area.  Four of the posters are now on display in Olin.
