Dear 2016-2017 Band Parents:
Many of you have been asking about teachers. Below are links to teachers who teach out
of our local music sellers West Valley Music, Heaney Violins and Sono Strings. Also, consider
CSMA as possibility. Feel free to audition teachers as well by letting them know you are looking for the right fit
for you, be it anything form temperament to scheduling to your goals an expectations as a music student.
The difference between a student who takes regular lessons and practices versus one who doesn’t is night and day.
If you want to advance you musical abilities drastically, this is the path to take.
You can expect the following:
1) Practice! Your teacher will give you a weekly assignment. Teachers can tell if you practiced
during the wee or if you didn’t as soon as you start playing. If a teacher gets the feeling that you
are not practicing on a regular basis, they may be in a apposition to tell you that they don’t feel you relationship
is productive enough to continue.
2) Make a schedule! Make a time and place to practice at least 20min a night. The hardest thing about practicing
is starting the practice session. Once you start you’ll find the session goes fairly quickly.
3) Be on time to lessons and commit to them! Teachers will want to you your full scheduled lesson time.
Also get the teacher’s policy on missed lessons and their make up lesson policy. This is both part of their profession
and their desire to work with students committed to getting better on a weekly basis.
If I can be of any further assistance, please let me know and contact me ASAP
