Kids:
This is where you can download your practice card, rhythm charts, blank music paper and Selmer Scale Sheets.
For starts, just download the practice card and Selmer Scale sheets. I will assign rhythm charts and assignments requiring
writing music later if necessary.
How To Practice (recommended if you are not sure how to go about practicing)
Warm up with long tones (winds), Full bow open string technique (strings) (8th Baroque and Traditional Grip), Drum Roll (Percussion) (5 min)
Followed by scales or rudiments for drummers (5min)
Play the assigned scale/s a few times (slowly)(5min)
Play your tunes (15min)
Find the toughest passages of music and play them through slowly. Don’t be a hack and practice fast, pretending you are performing.
Don’t practice faster than you can think or faster than you can control. This will make you worse, not better.
General rule: 3X slowly, 3x medium, 1-2x fast. Repeat the process until you can play it effortlessly at tempo.
The point of practice is to understand and to control the music.
