Basketball Rules and Regulations
LDSSAA BASKETBALL RULES AND REGULATIONS
Rules:
· All grade 8 games are scheduled to start warm up at 3:00 pm and tip off at 3:15 pm at the host site.
· All junior games are scheduled to start after an 8 min minimum warm-up after the grade 8 game.
· Teams will default the game if they are not ready to play by 3:45. (coaches are expected to contact each other in advance). If you arrive after 3:30 the game will played with running time, stop time last 2 min of the 4th quarter.
· Host sites are responsible to provide all officials. This includes 2 officials and 3 - 4 minor officials.
· Officials should be competent one must be an adult over the age of 18.
· All grade 8 and junior girls and boys games are 8 minute quarters with 1 minute between quarters and a 5 minute halftime.
· Grade 8 girls and boys and junior girls use a size 6 Baden basketball. Junior boys use a size 7 Baden basketball.
· Grade 8 boys, and junior boys divisions use a 30 second shot clock and a 10 sec back court. The grade 8 girls and junior girls use 24 second shot clock and the 8 second back court.
· Tiebreaker Formula - Head to head, +/- (only involving those three teams), Ratio (only involving those three teams)
· Scores must be reported by the home team 24 hours after the game. Scores are reported using the online form. Athletic Directors have the password.
If a game is tied there will be an overtime. Overtime will consist of a 3 min period, and stop time at the last one minute. There will be one time out in overtime.

· All players and coaches are reminded to treat each student and adult official with respect.
