Below are FOUR methods to make accents with a keyboard. Try them!
Method 2: Word Processing
In Word, this is the fastest and easiest. To form the letter desired, start by holding down the Control key (bottom left of keyboard), then while you are holding that, press the Apostrophe (it looks like this: ' )at the same time. Release Control and Apostrophe, then type the vowel that you want to be accented.
Method 1: ASCII codes
When other methods fail, this one almost always works!
Hold down the Alt key while you type a code on the number pad on the right side of the keyboard:
0161 = ¡
0191 = ¿
0225 = á
0233 = é
0237 = í
0241 = ñ
0243 = ó
0250 = ú
Method 3: Insert Symbol
In Word, Powerpoint, and a few other programs, you can also go to the top menu, click on Insert, then click Symbol, and the symbol menu will appear. You can click the symbols you want to appear in your document. Accents are found in the "normal text" font.
Method 4: Cut and Paste
If all else fails, you can just cut and paste from this page!
