Abstract: With over 2 million downloads, Julia’s popularity is growing very fast. Job ads are listing Julia as one of the skills that can lead to a higher salary.
In this talk, I will explain why Julia is fast, flexible, and fun. Simply put, the older computer languages such as Fortran and C were built for the computer. Modern technical languages have been built for humans. Julia strikes the proper balance for 2018 and the future, enabling humans and computers to cooperate.
With Julia, users get past the notion that a computer language is just a means to an end. Julia’s flexibility gives users power that they did not even know they wanted, but once learned there is no turning back.
