My Philosophy in Teaching
My main aim is to facilitate my students’ development in the realms of design thinking, conceptual development, creativity, and visual storytelling. The ability to communicate visually is imperative to all aspects of design, from product and interior space to visual communication and illustration. Content is what drives design, and context is what directs it. The two must be unified to achieve the most desired and effective results.
Regarding the teaching process, my classes adopt a process-oriented procedure, with placing the emphasis on design fundamentals along with the process of problem solving, rather than on subject material that needs to be memorized . In the class, I refer with each student individually since they work independently and collaboratively. I start by introducing the concepts to help them gain knowledge, subsequently we analyse the abstract concepts presented and consider approaches to look at the particular challenges and circumstances. I afterwards follow up with the students in person as they design, delivering assistance and guidance. I usually bring in their peers into the conversation to include a non-instructor’s view of their work.
