Under the direction of Kevin Erickson, Teresa Catania and Jim Gornick, the KMHS Band Program carries on the district’s reputation for musical excellence through its diverse assemblage of bands and ensembles serving students at their individual achievement and interest levels. The program encompasses three competitive Concert bands (Concert, Symphonic & Wind Symphony), Woodwind & Brass choirs, several Jazz & Drumline ensembles, as well as Marching/Pep bands. Students entering high school will have the opportunity to experience the many joys and benefits associated with personal accomplishment through playing music, a nurturing classroom atmosphere and camaraderie with their peers.
The Kettle Moraine High School Bands offer an exceptional musical experience for students, blending artistic excellence with community engagement. The KM Bands have been a fan favorite at the Stars and Stripes Honor Flights, performing two times a year for the Veterans, make appearances at Disney World every other year for a Magic Kingdom Parade, and perform for many of the State sporting events that KM has been achieving in the past few years. Whether performing at local events, state competitions, or national showcases, the Kettle Moraine High School Bands consistently demonstrate talent, dedication, and school spirit, making them a proud highlight of the community.
Students desiring a more in-depth exploration of music have the opportunity to participate in jazz, woodwind, flute and drum line ensembles, based on their experience. Within these smaller group settings, students learn advanced music theory, improvisation and transcription, and further refine their technical skills through advanced-level musical selections.
