Sketchbook Guidelines

Recommended sketchbook: Canson XL Series Mix Media (side wire bound) 60 sheets 9 X 12

***available on Amazon AND WalMart.com; so can be purchased at WalMart, Hobby Lobby and Michaels

*You MUST have a 9 X 12 spiral sketchbook; if you fill one up you will need to get a new one.

*Sketchbook must stay in classroom (get a second one for home?)

*Each page needs a date (month/day/year) placed in margin near spiral

(will be graded every six weeks; nine weeks is too long!)

*NEVER remove a page from your sketchbook, even if you make a mistake; they are okay (they show you are trying!!!

*Use at least 2/3 or more of every page; used the BACK of each page, too

EXCEPTION: class projects

* It is okay to put several drawings on each page; try the same thing many times, maybe differently each time;

please note: cartoons, words/numbers/ letters are NOT free draws!

*Do not skip any pages; keep sketchbook chronological

*Use Pencil or colored pencils ONLY; NO markers in sketchbook

EXCEPTION: Zentangles or outlining class projects (I will tell you when it is okay)

*Try putting backgrounds with your drawings!

*YOUR SKETCHBOOK is for:

-learning and practicing new skills and techniques

-recording your thoughts/ideas (get them down so you will not forget them; you may need them in another project!)
