Hello Parents of 4th and 5th Graders!
We are excited to introduce a new after school program to Woodland’s upper elementary students. The focus of the program will be STEM Education, (activities that incorporate Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math). Our challenges for the kids will require them to think analytically and persevere as they problem solve through hands-on project design and creativity.
The program is designed to inspire kids to explore the STEM subject areas in greater depth and better prepare them for future tasks, projects, (and ultimately careers) in science and engineering.
“STEM Club” will meet in the media center twice a month on the following Thursdays from 3:00-4:30pm:
Feb. 5th & 19th March 5th & 19th April 16th & 30th May 14th & 28th
The deadline to apply to be a STEM Club member is Wed., Jan. 28th. Ideally we’d like a group of 20 students, however if more than 20 applicants request to join, we will do what we can to accommodate all who are interested. To apply, please fill out the form (file below) and return it to school by 1/28/15. Questions can be directed to Mrs. Watkins (jwatkins@kingsford.org).
Sincerely,
Mrs. Watkins (Technology/Elementary Teacher)
Mr. Novara (5th Grade Science Teacher)
