Now is the time to think about what justice issue you would like to educate others about or advocate for a specific action/change. To help you brainstorm some ideas, complete the following sentences as your blog entry for this step in the process:
I care about …
I am concerned about…
I am passionate about…
If you are already assigned to a group, you will need to come up with one issue that you all care enough about to create a project for. If you are brainstorming at the class level, you may be able to divide into groups based on interests in a similar issue. Don't worry too much if your favorite issue isn't picked. There are a lot of changes we need in the world. Regardless of what issue your group chooses, you will learn a lot about justice and how to educate and advocate for an issue in the future.
Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.”
~ Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Letter from Birmingham Jail
Once you have picked an issue, your group needs to come up with a plan that contains the following information:
Brief description of the project:
What is the goal of the project? Who or what will it benefit?
Who is the target audience for the project?
What team members are involved and what are their specific responsibilities for the creation of the project?
What is the project timeline?
What resources do you need to complete your project?
Your project can take many forms, for example a movie, powerpoint presentation, artwork, digital story, fund-raiser, recycling program, etc. Consider what resources you have available or could borrow to create your project as well as time constraints. See examples of previous projects from:
