Klamath Falls City Schools Beliefs:
The Klamath Falls City School District is committed to the development of curriculum and to train teachers and Title VI staff to present academic and cultural skills to Native American students and increase cultural awareness regarding the local Tribes.
In addition, Title VI paraprofessionals will be trained to facilitate language arts and mathematics remediation for Native American students in their schools as well as be trained to teach relevant and accurate culture specific to the students’ Tribal history.
Quality learning occurs in an environment that supports and encourages integrity, personal choice and self-reliance. Student achievement results from continuous development of successful classroom skills and appropriate classroom attitudes, and building positive relationships with all involved.
Mission:
The mission of the Indian Education Program is to meet the unique educational and culturally related academic needs of American Indians and Alaskan Natives (AI/AN) so that our students can achieve at the same challenging state standards as all students. The Indian Education Program is committed to connecting families of Native American students with culture, community and education.
The Program is federally funded as part of civil rights legislation and treaty guarantees through the Office of Indian Education in Washington D.C.
Address the culturally related academic needs of Native students.
Tutoring supports for Native students to help meet high school requirements and graduate from high school.
Share area cultural activities schedule to increase student knowledge and awareness of heritage and community opportunities.
