Our Class Expectations
Providing a classroom that facilitates learning requires that discipline be an important part. The children will be free to discuss, talk and share in this classroom. As they interact with each other, they are learning. However, when actions by one affect the learning environment of the other children, action will be taken by following our discipline procedures. Each child will begin each day with a smiling face. When a rule is broken, we will discuss it together. When the same rule is broken several times in one day then the smiling face will be taken away.
Each day your child will bring home their folder and return it each day. In that folder there will be a calendar for the month. If your child has to have their smiling face taken away, the number of the rule that was broken will be written on the calendar for that day. The rules are numbered at the bottom of their calendar. Each day they make good choices throughout the day, they will receive a smiling face in their folder and a small treat. This way you will always be aware of what has occurred during the day. The folder is also where I will put notes and letters from school and where I will look for notes from you. We will replace the calendar at the beginning of each month. Please leave the calendar in their folders because I will be keeping those for my records as well.
I want you to know that several warnings are given before their smiling face is taken away. I give warnings and chances first. Please understand that when their smiling face is taken away that they have been given several opportunities for their behavior to improve first.
