Private Teachers

Advantages of Private Lessons:

• Each student receives individual attention and can move at his or her own pace.

• The student's musical education is reinforced and enriched by receiving dual instruction through two professional educators (the band director and private teacher).

• Each instrument has its own unique difficulties in learning and teaching. Private teachers are specialists on the instrument they teach.

• Students involved in private lessons advance more quickly .

• Students who are good at what they do have high levels of pride and self-esteem, and will show more involvement in the band program and in their own practicing.

What to expect

A thirty minute lesson will be held once a week either after school or in the evening. Several teachers teach at Stevenson, some at local music stores, some teach at their home or travel to your own home. The cost for private lessons varies with each teacher, ranging from $20 to $30 per lesson. Each teacher has his or her own policies about payments, attendance, and other requirements.
