Program Philosophy
Sports are very important to the growth and maturation of our student athletes at the Jesup Community School District. Each sport offers different challenges and drives home important life-long lessons. The Jesup Boys Basketball program will be based off the following statements.
1. The program will be a high-trust program, meaning coaches will trust the players and the players will trust the coaches. This will be united group with all decisions being done collectively.
a. Our program consists of players, managers, coaches, and parents of every single boys basketball team, regardless of age, in Jesup.
2. The players will grow as people off the court. We are not doing our job as teachers/educators if this does not happen.
3. The players will learn to compete every single day of practice and in games. Competition occurs every single day so we must drive home this trait in our student-athletes. Winning is important but it is not the most important thing. Understanding how to deal with each is just as important.
4. Players will learn how to deal with the highs and lows that a season presents. In life there are highs and lows and we must instill in them how to deal with they encounter them.
5. The players will improve their individual game.
6. The players will improve as teammates.
7. Be a role model for our younger basketball players.
8. Our players will work hard in the classroom and will be respectful at all times.
9. We want our players to handle to themselves on and off the grace. We want our program to act in a first class way. We want to level-headed in all situations.
10. The Jesup Boys Basketball staff will encourage team members be to be involved in various activities at Jesup. We want multi-sport athletes at Jesup!
11. EVERY SINGLE PERSON THAT COMES INTO CONTACT WITH OUR PROGRAM IS VITAL TO OUR SUCCESS AND OUR ULTIMATE GOAL OF TURNING OUR STUDENT-ATHLETES INTO PEOPLE WE CAN BE PROUD OF.
