Trauma Informed Care
Jefferson County Public Schools
A “Trauma-Sensitive School”: has a shared understanding among all staff that trauma can impact learning, behavior & relationships and has a holistic approach to helping students feel safe physically, socially, emotionally and academically.
The purpose of the Trauma Informed Care Department is to support staff and students in better understanding how trauma impacts not only learning, but behavior, relationships and all aspects of an individual's interactions.
What We Do...
Our department works with schools to better understand trauma exposed students in the educational setting. We work to inform, prepare, and equip educators with the tools needed to prepare all students to be successful both inside and outside of the classroom.
