The Dynamic Indicators of Basic Early Literacy Skills (DIBELS) are a set of standardized, individually administered measures of early literacy development. They are designed to be short (one minute) fluency measures used to regularly monitor the development of pre-reading and early reading skills.
DIBELS is administered to students (1:1) in grades K-3
DIBELS is administered in the fall, winter, and spring.
Students will be classified as below benchmark, low benchmark, benchmark and above benchmark.
All students are monitored three times per year using DIBELS to ensure student development of phonological awareness, alphabetic understanding, automaticity and fluency with the code. Students receiving strategic or intensive reading interventions are monitored more frequently.
Measures of Academic Progress or MAP Assessments are computer adaptive achievement tests in Math and Reading. As students answer questions, the program adjusts the difficulty of questions so that each student takes a unique test.
