Middle School Theater

Welcome to Theater at Bradford.  I offer a number of theater electives and direct the spring musical.  This year we are presenting Mary Poppins Jr.

6th Grade Theater Exploration:  This class will focus on character building, script reading and writing,  monologues, common theater terms, and various career paths available in theater.  There will be a performance for this class near the end of the trimester.

7th/8th Theater Exploration:  This class will build on the skills learned in the 6th grade exploration class through the art of Improv theater. Be sure to check out our video from our pantomime unit.  Pantomime Scenes

7th/8th Technical Theater:  This class will focus on all the behind the scenes skill needed to produce a show.  Students will learn how to design and build stage sets, design and run lighting for various settings, costume design, and possibly stage make up. This class does not have a performance but their work will be used in the programs near the end of the trimester.  We will be using a variety of tools from basic hand tool to common power tools.  Students will have to complete a safety quiz and demonstration before using any power tools.

7th/8th  Intro Audio/Visual Production:   This class will focus on film production including shot types, framing, simple plot design, and extended plot design.  Students will be asked  to create an All About Me in the first week of class.  This project will  require students to record their day from wake to be time and create a 3-5 minute video narrating their day.  Our final project will be 10-15 minute short film written, directed, performed, and edited by the students.  This class will not have an end of trimester performance but  we will have a view party in class for final project.
