Middle School

String  Orchestra

Bornoff Approach:  This summer I took an intensive week long course in teaching Orchestra with the Bornoff Approach.  This style of teaching gives students a chance to play all 4 strings from day 1.  I think of it as way to learn the geography of notes on the instrument while focusing on left hand skills, right hand skills, and music literacy .  We will be using the following "method" books in middle school orchestra this year.  Our 5th grade orchestra teacher uses the same method book so everyone should have the first book if you started with Mrs. Bock in 5th Grade.

Method Books:

The Bornoff Approach A Primer

The Bornoff Approach Finger Patterns
