About OSTC

Why I SHOULD Join Open School Theatre Company (OSTC)

Participating in the performing arts at Open School has many rewards. Many students have discovered hidden passions working on a theatre production, playing in the Borkestra, singing in the choir or participating in the legendary Marimba Band! In theatre, Open Schoolers have developed carpentry and welding skills. Students have also learned sewing skills and had the opportunity to build costumes from scratch. Students have learned how to tell stories through lighting, sound and set design. Then there is the rush and satisfaction of performing: acting, singing and playing in front of an audience helps a person gain confidence and explore the human condition. Even if you are not considering the performing arts as a career, the experience is gratifying and the skills, confidence and memories last a lifetime!

What Opportunities Are There With OSTC?

Producing a play is a lot of work AND a lot of fun! There are many jobs and projects involved in the process:

Also, we manage the Space for our school. We clean the house and lobby,  maintain the equipment and tools, and present as professionals for our Open School Community during Governance, classes, guest speakers and guest performers.

How Do I Join OSTC?

Super easy! All you have to do is take a theatre or music class or participate in a play. No experience required for most Company productions.

Transcribing the Experience for Walkabout Students

Whether you participate in Company as a class or PLAID experience, every experience is an opportunity to explore a number of Graduation Expectations, and several students have used their theatre experience in a number of meaningful Passages.
