Our annual Instrument Rental Fair is your family's one-stop-shop for renting and picking up instruments. Multiple music stores and vendors will be present for your convenience and choice, kind of like a musical farmer's market! If you can not attend the rental fair, you may alternatively visit one of the Recommended Music Stores to get a rental instrument on your own.

Instrument Rent-To-Own programs at local music stores typically cost from $18 - 30 a month for smaller instruments, and $40 - $65 a month for larger instruments. Your rental fees build toward the purchase of your very own high-quality instrument to keep. All rental agreements are between you and the music store of your choice, not the teacher or school district.
Special Warning to Orchestra students: Beware of VSOs!!!!
Special Warning to Orchestra students: Beware of VSOs!!!!
Take it from Mrs. Phillips... DO NOT PURCHASE a stringed instrument online! Vendors like Amazon, Craigstlist, and Facebook, market "high quality" instruments for bargain prices... but beware! These are really just junk, AKA: Violin-Shaped-Objects (VSOs)!

Orchestral instruments have many mechanical parts that need to be fine-tuned by a stringed instrument professional, a special skill that online vendors simply can't offer. Additionally, your student needs to be professionally fit for a custom student-sized violin, viola, cello, or bass - and they will eventually grow into the next size up. It might be tempting to bargain-hunt online for an instrument, but trust me: the poor sound quality and play-ability will be frustrating to your student.
