Class Registration Process
Step 1: All students should join the appropriate Google Classroom if they aren't already a part of it. This can only be done IF you have and know your Jeffco student ID # and password. If you need help figuring out what this is, contact your counselor. ONLY STUDENTS CAN JOIN THE GOOGLE CLASSROOMS
Class of 2025 join code: ces7rgd
Class of 2026 join code: rbzqzmy
Class of 2027 join code: i2utj6z
Class of 2028 join code: 3jpzsyl
If you are unable to join the classroom, please continue with the rest of the steps below. You can still complete the registration process without being in the Google classroom.
Step 2: Open and make a copy of the Course Planning Sheet (see above). Use the sheet for whatever grade level you/your student will be in the 2024-25 school year.
Step 3: Use the 2024-25 Course Description Guide to look up the descriptions of any class that you want more information on.
Use the Academy Booklet to see what classes are suggested based on your Academy Pathway of interest.
Step 4: Core class selection.
If you are a current GMHS student, your current teachers will recommend you for the next appropriate level in each of the core classes (Math, Science, Social Studies and ELA) and in World Language.
If you are transferring from a different school, follow the appropriate scope & sequence (located on the planning sheet) to select the next level of class. Your counselor will make adjustments if needed based on your transcript.
Step 5: Select the appropriate number of elective units as stated on the grade level planning sheets. 1 sem = 1 unit, 1 year = 2 units
9th grade = 6 units
10th grade = 4 units
11th grade = 4 units
12th grade = 3 units
Students ALSO have to select 2-3 alternate courses and write those on the back (page 2) of the planning sheet. Alternates should be DIFFERENT than the 3-6 elective units already chosen.
Step 6: Turn your completed planning sheet into your counselor.

Schedule Change Request Process
Once schedules are released in August, students can request a schedule change for an academically compelling reason. Follow the process below.
Schedule changes:
No schedule changes are guaranteed. Counselors will do their best to accommodate ACADEMICALLY COMPELLING requests, but all changes are dependent upon class numbers and master schedule availability. See below for acceptable and unacceptable request reasons:
Acceptable schedule change request reasons:
Wrong level of course
Required course forgotten on schedule
Duplicate classes on schedule
Unacceptable schedule change request reasons:
Desire for a different off period including transportation or work conflicts
Desire for a different teacher
Desire to be in classes with friends
Changed your mind on courses requested in the spring
Not completing summer homework
AP/Honors Drop Policy:
Honors and AP courses are a FULL-YEAR commitment. Students MAY NOT DROP honors or AP courses once they have been approved and enrolled in those courses. Some Honors and AP courses have required summer assignments.
If a course you are enrolled in has summer homework, it is a highly encouraged enrichment tool, but not completing it will not impact your grade.
We will not accept schedule requests via email, phone or appointment/walk-ins. STUDENTS must complete the form that will be released in July using their Jeffco email and login.
Counselors will NOT begin working on schedules until we return in the fall.
Year long courses CANNOT be dropped mid year. This includes World Language classes.
