Periods 2, 4, 5 & 6



U.S. History I Course Description:

During first semester students will be studying the history of the United States from the late 1800s up through the 1920s. Some of the main units we will be studying will be:

  • Reconstruction (Post Civil War era)

  • Westward Expansion/Manifest Destiny

  • The Rise of Industry/Industrialization

  • Immigration

  • Progressive Era

  • Imperialism (Expansion)

  • Spanish-American War/World War I

  • The Jazz Age/Roaring 20s

We will be looking at the social, economical and political development of our country during this time. It is important as citizens of the United States that students know about their country’s history. This knowledge will not only help them understand their country better, but make them better citizens in today’s (and tomorrow’s) society.

U.S. History II Course Description:

During second semester students will be studying the history of the United States from the Cold War (post WWII) to the 1970s and possibly further. Some of the main units we will be studying will be The Cold War, Civil Rights Movement, Vietnam, Counterculture, Nixon Years and the Post Watergate Period.. We will be looking at the social, economical and political development of our country during this time. It is important as citizens of the United States that students know about their country’s history. This knowledge will not only help them understand their country better, but make them better citizens in today’s (and tomorrow’s) society.
