INCOMING 9th GRADERS
Information for incoming 9th graders interested in trying out for our summer team(s).
Welcome to Ralston Valley! Incoming freshmen interested in playing basketball will have opportunities to learn our system and continue developing skills starting in May and throughout June and July. We are also aware that many of our student-athletes will participate in other sports during this time, and we encourage them to do so. If you are a multisport athlete, summer will be a busy time for you but know that we will work around other sports schedules as much as possible when conflicts arise.
Incoming 9th graders Practice/Tryouts for our summer team(s). We try to keep 2 teams if the numbers and ability level allow us to. Players are encouraged to come to as many of the below dates as possible, but we do understand if conflicts arise. However, if we never see a player, then we cannot add them to a team.
PRACTICE/TRYOUT DATES (All dates are subject to change, please check our website OFTEN for any changes)
May 5, 7, 12, 14 (Teams will be made shortly after May 14)
NOTE: Parents do not stay for HS tryouts or practices. Please drop off your player and pick them up when the practice is over. It is ok to help them check in the first day if needed. Thank you
Tentative Summer Tournament Schedule (Fees will be the cost of the tournament plus a coaching fee for the summer. Fees will be communicated after the tryouts)
Mines Team Camp May 22-24
Metro State Team Camp #1 May 29-31
Metro State Team Camp #2 June 5-7
ALL interested basketball players are highly encouraged to attend our Summer Workouts regardless if they are on a summer team or not. Please see the Summer Mornings tab for more information.
Thank you
The Ralston Valley Boys Basketball Mission: To foster a program that excels on the court, in the classroom and in the community. We believe in giving positive basketball instruction that will give student athletes lifelong skills that will help them beyond the basketball court.
The goal of the coaching staff is to lead all kids to work hard in everything that they do on the court, in the classroom and in the community to better themselves, the team, and people around them in their everyday lives.
3 Core Principles:
Ownership
We own our actions, decisions, failures, and successes
Own EVERYTHING you do on and off the court
Character
Integrity
Humility
Accountability
Contribute to the well-being of others around you on the court, in the classroom and in the community through your character
Excellence (Victory)
Victory is the process of how we go about everything that we do, victory is not necessarily about the wins and losses
Develop consistent everyday habits so we can continually strive for excellence in everything we do
