Appeals & Maintaining Eligibility

The student financial incentive portion of the A+ Schools Program provides for applicants who meet the following requirements to be eligible for state reimbursement for the cost of tuition, general fees, and up to 50% of the book cost (currently the reimbursement for book cost part of hte law is not being funded) while attending any Missouri public community college or post-secondary vocational or technical school as a full-time student. The incentive will be available for u to four years of attendance during the 4-year period following graduation. This funding id dependent upon Jamestown C-1 High School being designated as an A+ School prior to the applicant's graduation and upon legislative appropriation by the General Assembly. Students must sign up no later than the last day of the Fall semester of their Senior year.

Appeals Process

In the event that an applicant is not able to meet the requirements and becomes ineligible for the A+ financial incentive, the student has the right to appeal. In cases of appeal, the student must notify the A+ Coordinator in writing of his/her intent to appeal by May 1 of the year of their graduation (with the exception of Attendance as that must be requested within 30 days of grading period with the days in question.) For incident declaring ineligible after May 1 of their graduation, an appeal must be filed no later than one week after graduation. The student and parents/guardians may appeal expulsions from this program, in accordance with written district procedures, to the Board of Education or to a committee of Board members appointed by the president of the Board of Education and given the authority to act for the Board of Education. The Board of Education will hear the student's appeal in closed session and will notify the student of its decision.

Requirement for Maintaining Eligibility Post-High School

The student financial incentive will be available for up to four years of attendance during the four year period after the recipient graduates from high school. To maintain eligibility, the student must:

Requirement 1: Enroll in and attend, on a full-time basis, a Missouri public community college or vocational-technical school.

Requirement 2: Maintain a grade point average of 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale.

Requirement 3: Provide to the A+ Coordinator information concerning semester grades and proof of full-time student status at attending college or school.
