Student Roles & Responsibilities

• Establish daily routines for engaging in the learning experiences (e.g. 8.45am start)
• Identify a comfortable, quiet space in your home where you can work effectively and successfully
• Regularly monitor online platforms (Managebac, email, etc.) to check for announcements and feedback from your teachers.
• Complete assignments with integrity and academic honesty, doing your best work
• Do your best to meet timelines, commitments and due dates.
• Communicate proactively with your teachers if you cannot meet deadlines or require additional support
• Collaborate and support your ISH peers in their learning
• Comply with ISH’s Responsible Use Agreement including expectations for online etiquette
• Proactively seek out and communicate with other adults at ISH as different needs arise (see below)

After receiving initial notice from the Head of School about school closure and timelines, families will receive an email from the teachers with division-specific information.

The primary tools for communication between teachers and families will be Managebac and email.

Teachers will post work on ManageBac by adding a new event on the class calendar.

Distance learning for our early adolescent learners will focus on having a balanced, holistic learning experience. Students will have both off- and on- screen learning activities designed to engage the MYP learner.

Learning experiences are designed to be completed independently or in collaboration with other students. Tutoring is not recommended, nor should a parent/ guardian be too involved.

Resources vary by class and lesson, but will include links to videos, graphic organisers or cloze passages to complete, scanned materials to read and engage with, independent research materials via our databases, reading materials including ebooks and audiobooks.

Students are encouraged to be proactive in reaching out to teachers when they have questions or assignments are unclear. Teachers will be available for students everyday according to the following schedule:

B1: 8:45-9:15

B2: 9:30-10:00

B3: 10:15-10.45

B4: 11:00-11:30

Grade 6-8 Koti advisors will make contact with their groups Tuesdays 10:15-10:45 and Fridays 12:15-12:45. Core Advisors will check in with their groups Mondays and Wednesdays from 11:45 to 12:00, and Tuesdays and Thursdays from 15:00 to 15:15.

Grade 9-10 Koti advisors will make contact with their groups Tuesdays 10:15-10:45 and Fridays 11:45-12:15. Follow this link to learn more about Core Advisory time for Gr 9-10.

Outside scheduled session times, teachers will endeavour to respond to student and parent communications within 24 hours.

Learning Support Team is always available to support students with academic, social or emotional needs.
