The group of students worked so well and showed a great passion for serving. A lot was accomplished by the end of the day and the students were photographed for the Sherburne County Citizen Newspaper.

Here is a copy of the text from the article:
Saturday a group of students from the Becker Alternative School of Excellence (BASE) teamed up with a group from the St. Cloud Area Learning Center (ALC) to take part in a program called “A Brush with Kindness”, a project of the Habitat for Humanity.
Construction manager Kevin Barthel from the Habitat organization was on the site from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. with the student crews, which also included volunteers from the Youthbuild organization.
The order of the day was stark: work clothes, closed-toed shoes, no shorts, work gloves and a water bottle. Bring your lunch.
The plan for the day was to clean up the lot around the home of a single gentleman residing in the St. Cloud area. The students cleared “a great deal of brush and trash” from the home, according to Dustin Weege, BASE instructor at Becker High School, and did so “with great cheer.” Items for removal also included piles and bags of leaves, old building supplies, general trash and a “substantial amount of clutter” from the homeowner’s lot. The students also helped fill in holes and level the lawn at the worksite.
“For the BASE students it was their first time serving with Habitat for Humanity,” Weege said, “and it turned out to be a great service learning opportunity that was enjoyed by all.” He was joined by his wife, Heidi, in working on the project.
