25- News and Announcements Week of April 30-May 4, 2018

Post date: May 1, 2018 11:51:14 AM

What a full week we had! Monday we had Hartley come and do Spring Birds. Since the weather wasn't conducive to going outside the whole time we were in our classroom. It was still fun and exciting to explored different aspects of birds see artifacts and do comparison and contrasts of real birds. Wed. was our Zoo field trip where we had a fantastic animal life cycles program and the we received a guided tour around the zoo. Tues. we began reading with the miniature horses. Every child will have an opportunity to do this. Mon. the class did their final collection of maple sap bringing the total gallons harvested to 43. That amount was unexpected as it is double what we have collected in the past and it is also the ratio they learned that it takes to make 1 gallon of maple syrup. All 1st grade classes helped tap, collect, and now we’ll compare and share the results. We may even make maple sugar candy. It will surely be a part of our goodbye celebration to Miss Sinclair.

Miss Sinclair’s last day of student teaching is this Friday, May 4th. We are doing a writing project/photo album in the classroom, but I was also hoping the to have every child bring in something Miss Sinclair will need for her future classroom. The class is brainstorming a list and will bring it home on Tues. Otherwise I was hoping to put together books for the start of her classroom library. The book can be new or used. If you are able to participate in any way that would be much appreciated. Miss Sinclair has given so much to our class and we shall miss her greatly!
