Transition to Federated Managed Apple IDs. As part of the meet and confer process it was decided to transition to a federated managed Apple ID system for the district in preparation for the next iPad fleet refresh. Federated Managed Apple IDs will not allow access to the Apple App Store regardless of the device logged in with that Apple ID. Self Service will be the only way to access apps with a Federated Managed Apple ID.
This means that only Farmington Area Public Schools will be able to create Apple IDs with either of these following district domains. All Apple IDs currently using account emails with @farmington.k12.mn.us OR the @isd192.org domain will be “reclaimed” for the district to use as Federated Managed Apple IDs. The “federation” will allow us to assign these special managed Apple IDs using district email addresses and allow it to sync with the user’s network password.
Apple will push out an email notice to those that currently use an Apple ID with an @farmington.k12.mn.us OR @isd192.org email address and let them know they will have to change to the email associated with their Apple ID to a personal email address. IF the user does not complete the Apple ID update process by January 15, 2024, Apple will “reclaim” the @farmington.k12.mn.us Or @isd192.org Apple ID for ISD 192 and replace it with a unique temporary Apple ID generated by Apple in an email to the user.

No Apple ID required. We do not require an Apple ID to get software. Please Install all apps through Self Service. If you decide to use an Apple ID, be sure It Is not tied to your farmington.k12.mn.us or your Isd192.org emails as the district will be using those for Managed Apple ID's.
