BOWLS SUMMER SCHOOL PROJECT 2023
This annual fundraiser supports BrainPower in a Backpack, a largely student-supported community service program providing weekend meals to students in need across Burnsville, Eagan and Savage. Funded entirely by donations, BrainPower currently sends food home to more than 750 children each week during the school year in District 191 along with providing a year round pop up food pantry -- 191 Community Pantry -- serving more than 120 families twice a week.
Attendees of Bowls for BrainPower may make a free-will donation and pick out a correspondingly priced handmade pottery creation and receive a cup of soup sponsored by Valley Natural Foods, Kwik Trip and other local restaurant donations.
Each empty bowl on display is a reminder that children in our community face empty bowls and hunger every day. The event has raised more than $100,000 to support BrainPower in a Backpack since its inception in 2009. The Best of Show Silent Auction featuring 20 unique pottery pieces will kick off online bidding on November 16 and run until November 30 with pieces on display at the November 16 event.
The goal this year is to raise $15,000. Donations to Bowls and BrainPower via District 191 are tax deductible,

Bowls for BrainPower is a community fundraiser in support of ISD 191 hunger relief program -- BrainPower in a BackPack. Make a free-will donation to our hunger cause and receive a beautiful, hand-made pottery bowl at our annual event in November! Proceeds are used to buy food for children in ISD 191 (Burnsville-Eagan-Savage) through BrainPower in a BackPack. This year, Bowls will be featuring cookies make by the Burnsville High School Culinary Arts Pathway students. Make donation and get a delicious treat as a thank you for helping Bowls do its part to eliminate hunger as a barrier to learning.
All the bowls are hand-made by students at Burnsville High School and community members. Bowls for BrainPower is a collaboration between Burnsville High School and ISD 191 Community Education. Many hands will make light work, and together we will make a difference in children's lives!
Students learn to make ceramic bowls, glaze them and help raise money to send children in ISD 191 home with a bag of food each weekend of the school year. No experience is necessary! We will teach you simple - but beautiful - ways to make a bowl using hand-building techniques.
