BHS STUDENT BOWLS MEETING
STUDENT BOWLS SEPTEMBER 17
POTTER'S ALL CALL OCTOBER 4, JANUARY 24, FEBRUARY 21
The Bowls for BrainPower Leadership Team is an opportunity for students to get involved in this meaningful project, use their creativity, be a leader, and make a contribution in the arts. YOU can make a difference! Our goal is for members to learn how to create ceramic bowls (no experience necessary!), and to use that knowledge to teach the process to others. The bowls are used in a community event every April to raise funds for BrainPower in a BackPack, ISD 191's hunger project. As a team member, you will
Attend the Bowls for BrainPower informational meeting date to be determined
Attend bowl-making and glazing training sessions after school
Help with Potter's All Call days, when community potters spend a Saturday making bowls (you don't have to stay all day, but you can!).
Teach students and community members how to create and glaze bowls on various dates, October - April (check the calendar).
Step up and serve as a captain, photographer, or social media expert, if you choose
Help at the Bowls for BrainPower event where a meal is served and donations are taken for the bowls.
Students on the Bowls Leadership Team do not have to attend every event or bowl-making session, but students should plan to attend as many as possible, including the training dates.
There are many advantages to serving on this team:
Participate in a meaningful community-wide project that raises funds for a local hunger project
Earn volunteer hours for the BHS Youth Service Program (which also awards credit toward graduation), National Honor Society, sports teams, or other organizations that require service hours
Build your resume for college or employment
Learn the art of pottery
Boost confidence and learn life skills, such as decision-making, organization, time management, and communication
Have fun and make friends
