Back in 2015, IR kicked off our first parade band season after a decade break. During the the past 7 years, the ensemble has grown from a dozen students to over 80 participants each season!
Starting in March, students have the chance to join the districts parade band. We are comprised of musicians in 7-12 grade, color guard 6-12, and an honor guard of 6 graders. We travel all over Upstate New York to share our school and community pride. We perform at events on Armed Forces Day, Dairyland Celebrations, Flag and Memorial Day observations, Veteran's Day events, local county fairs, and many other parades in the region. Our parade performances start in May and conclude the first week of August.
All students are welcome to come and try out the group. Even if you don't play an instrument, we have a spot in our family for you. We strive to be an all inclusive group of students and adults spending time growing as musicians, teachers, and performers while having fun.
2020 will mark the 3rd season for the IRMW competitive field band. IRMW is a member of the NYSFBC and made their first State Championship appearance in 2019.
Indian River is the only school district in Jefferson County to offer a unique program like the field band!
The Field Band performs all over New York state during the months of September and October. IRMB can be seen performing and competing in Syracuse, Rochester, and Long Island during this time. The season begins in August to allow the performers ample time to learn a demanding production.
Field Band is mentally and physically demanding activity. Students rehearsals hundreds of hours to put on the best production possible while increasing their musical and performing capabilities. The rewards of being a member of this program include life long memories and finding a wonderful new band family.
The IR Pep Band performs at various athletic and community events spreading cheer and joy. We perform pop music and cheer on our athletic programs thorughout the fall season.
