Grade Level Fountas and Pinnell Guided Reading Levels

Independent Level: The level a student can read and understand with minimal assistance.

Instructional Level: The level a student is able to read with some support and guidance.

Your child should be selecting books to read at home for enjoyment that are at their INDEPENDENT reading level. During reading group with a reading teacher, we use books at the students' INSTRUCTIONAL reading level.
