In addition to the Grade Level Specific activities listed below, here are some additional literacy activity options for ANY grade level:
Read and/or listen to stories on Tumblebooks. The link to this site is on the SSO or it can be found on the Websites tab of this Google site.
Storyline Online (https://www.storylineonline.net/): Choose a story to listen to online.
Self Selected Reading: Read anything you want (graphic novels, fiction books, nonfiction) and/or reread your favorite book.
Playing Games: Select a game to play - Uno, Monopoly, Checkers, Chess, Puzzles, Scrabble, or an outdoor game like kickball, softball, or soccer, etc. Practice reading, taking turns, listening, speaking, and active thinking while you play. Login to your i-Ready Personalized Learning Path to build reading skills through fun games and activities. The link is on the SSO - a small orange, teal, and green box.
Login to your Lexia (CORE5) account and get your word-work and reading fun on! Link is on the SSO or can be found on on the Websites tab of this Google site.
Login to Room Recess (https://www.roomrecess.com/pages/WordGames.html ) to access word games that boost spelling, sight words, and skills with reading and working with words. Select a word game you would like practice from the link above.
K-1
Read aloud to your child or have them read aloud to you.
Sight word flash cards (available on this site under the High Frequency Words tab)
Review letter names and sounds
Say a letter name and your child writes the letter.
Give your child the sound of the letter and have them write the letter that matches the sound you’re making.
Have students locate different letters or sight words within a book you are reading.
Have the students practice writing CVC words. (Example: cat, can, pan, tan, pin, wet, lot, mut, etc)
Practice writing (K-Write one sentence 1st Grade-Write 2-3 sentences)
Write a sentence about a story you’ve read.
Write a sentence using sight words.

Grade 2
Have your child read for 20 min per day.
Have your child practice writing sight words. You say the word and have them write it. Practice about 3 each day.
Word study-Have the students practice writing words that have vowel teams, digraphs, or blends.
Example: when, that, branch, seem, boat, rain
Ask questions after reading. See link within the Comprehension section of this site.
Have students respond to their reading in a journal, on notebook paper, or in a Google Doc.
